It&#8217;s as important as ever to support students in planning and progressing toward their hopes and aspirations for the future. The <a href=\"https:\/\/readywa.org\/beyond\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">High School and Beyond Planning<\/a> process can help. It provides a way to explore key questions like: Who am I? What can I become? How do I get there? But, you can stay on track to achieve your post-high school goals! Make sure you:<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wsac.wa.gov\/apply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Complete your financial aid form<\/strong><\/a> (the FAFSA or WASFA). This form will open the door to scholarships and grants (like the <a href=\"https:\/\/wsac.wa.gov\/wcg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington College Grant<\/a> for students who meet a certain income threshold) to pay for education or training (such as an <a href=\"https:\/\/lni.wa.gov\/licensing-permits\/apprenticeship\/apprenticeship-preparation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">apprenticeship<\/a>) after high school. You\u2019ll never know if you\u2019re eligible unless you apply!\n<ul>\n<li>If you have already filed your FAFSA or WASFA and your financial circumstances have changed, talk to the financial aid office at your college. They may be able to adjust your award and provide more support. Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/career-advice.worksourcewa.com\/cover-letter-resume\/resume-samples\/jobs.aspx?pg=9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">examples of resumes to consider<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complete other components of your High School and Beyond Plan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gearup.wa.gov\/educators\/scholarships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Find and apply for scholarships.\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Connect with your school counselor to get help and ask questions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>GRADE 11: It\u2019s time to take concrete steps toward post-high school education and training!<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegesuccessfoundation.org\/our-approach\/partnerships-initiatives\/washington-college-access-network-wcan\/#college-knowledge-materials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">College Knowledge guide<\/a><\/strong>, developed with student input, to research colleges and how to pay for it. When looking at schools, consider financial, academic, and social factors.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lni.wa.gov\/licensing-permits\/apprenticeship\/apprenticeship-preparation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Look into apprenticeship opportunities<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Update your High School and Beyond Plan<\/strong> to make sure you\u2019re on track for graduation next year. Is your scheduled ready for your junior year? What have you accomplished so far, and what goals do you have that you want to keep working on? What information can you use to understand where you are at and what you need to focus on moving forward?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Find out your school counselor\u2019s office hours<\/strong> and\/or process to schedule an appointment to get support in making decisions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start working on your resume<\/strong> to get ready for job and internship opportunities when the time is right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>GRADE 9: Build on your exploration from middle school to keep exploring your interests!<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Think about your strengths and interests<\/strong>, and how they might relate to future careers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Explore the <a href=\"https:\/\/gearup.wa.gov\/students\/explore-pathways\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">many pathways<\/a><\/strong> available after high school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-237 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/readywa.org\/beyond\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/resized-1101-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"775\" height=\"516\" srcset=\"https:\/\/readywa.org\/beyond\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/resized-1101-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/readywa.org\/beyond\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/resized-1101.jpg 612w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 775px) 100vw, 775px\" \/><\/h4>\n<h4>GRADE 8: What do you like to do outside of school?
